Cudos to you, Captain. That was hilarious. And cudos to Jon Stewart and the Daily Show.
There's a lot of truth in this bit. How many people really believe Fox News is "fair and balanced" as they claim to be? You don't have to be schooled in journalism to see through their 24/7 propaganda. Real journalists don't use phrases like "some say" or "many believe" and if it were to somehow slip in I'm sure they wouldn't be secretely referring to three collegues at the water cooler. Fox News is little but bent propoganda from the school of Heir Goebbels. If they want to contine using their ridiculous tag line they should extend it to "fair and balanced to those who percieve through the simple mind of an imbecile." Why can't they be honest and refer to their "news programs" as editorials?
:liar: :liar: :liar:
There's a great documentary for anyone interested in the truth about Fox News entitled "Outfoxed," which does an excellent job of ripping the journalistic disguise from Rupert Murdoch's propagandist network.
I have absolutely nothing against editorial television, radio, or print, from the right or left, as long as it doesn't parade as unbias journalism. I enjoy and appreciate both right wing and left wing editorializing. I believe both are healthy for a vital democracy. And I'll fight for anyone's right to speak their mind. But I'm offended when either side thinks I'm stupid enough to blindly accept their editorial beliefs as gospel truth, and I'm doubly offended by attempts to make ass clowns of the general public.

Sorry for becoming so verbose, but Fox News is no more a news network than Comedy Central. And it riles me that they claim to be.

Damnit. I just missed the latest edition of Fox's wonderful show "The O'Reilly Factor." That one's always good for a laugh. What? Huh? It's not supposed to be funny?

I'm gonna let this one go. But I will leave a picture of a true American hero, you know, as a substitute for the one thousand words I could spew on the topic were I so inclined.

The decline of broadcast journalism began when Ed Murrow tossed objectivity overboard in his coverage of America's greatest senator. It continued through the Camelot kid gloves treatment of the Kennedy administration. It turned outright treasonous with Uncle Walter Cronkite's lies during the Vietnam war. Then the media feeding frenzy over Watergate, the overt hostility towards a Reagan presidency that finally got this nation back on the right track, the parodies of journalism named Rather, Brokaw, and Jennings and right up to the current daily print and electronic media blow jobs received by the current occupant of the White House. I could go on and on, but I promised myself I wouldn't. :)

And for the record, I don't watch Fox News. Hell, I don't watch any of them.

I hear you, Max. But you really should check out Fox News sometime. One of my closest friends holds many of the same views as you, but even he will admit to the difference in slanted broadcasting and Fox's blatent bias. Of course, he loves Fox News regardless.
Joseph McCarthy? Really?
Peace, my friend.

I like you, Ghost, so let's avoid this topic, and politics in general, as I've noticed we are somewhat in disaccord in that area. But Fox News is not a millifraction as biased as the so-called mainstream news outlets, i.e., the NY Times, the alphabet networks, and the one whose viewership demographic consists of people waiting to catch a flight during a layover...you know, CNN.

And yes, Tailgunner Joe McCarthy. America's greatest senator.

Peace.

And I like you as well, Max. You're one of my favorite MC members. And I agree, we should allow this thread to pass on.
Back to "Battle of Meetcam." PT 3 should be popping up soon.
